At the top of the Mount of Olives is the Seven Arches Hotel. It is so called because of the seven arches of its façade, but is better known by its earlier name, The Intercontinental, given it when it was established by the US company, Pan-American.
  
From the hotel there is a spectacular view of the Temple Mount and the Old City. There are those who identify the area of the hotel with the place where in the Middle Ages a large ceremony was held by the sages living in the Land of Israel on Hoshanna Rabba, when they fixed the calendar, excommunicated the Karaites and other such things.
